International Conscious Movement Teachers Association (ICMTA)

The International Conscious Movement Teachers Association (ICMTA) is a global professional body dedicated to supporting teachers of conscious dance and embodied movement practices. It serves as a hub for connection, collaboration, and integrity within the conscious movement field.

Mission and Vision

ICMTA's mission is to nurture and uphold the professional and ethical standards of conscious movement teaching worldwide. It envisions a world in which conscious dance is respected as a vital practice for personal and collective well-being. The association provides a supportive framework that connects teachers across traditions while promoting high-quality, inclusive, and ethical facilitation.

Members and Eligibility

ICMTA welcomes teachers of all movement modalities that center on embodiment, presence, and free movement. Members include certified facilitators from practices such as 5Rhythms, Open Floor, Movement Medicine, and other somatic-based approaches.

To join, facilitators must meet training criteria and adhere to the ICMTA’s professional code of ethics. Membership is open to both Waves and Heartbeat-level teachers and those trained in equivalent modalities.
